Failed to retrieve pairs from Site Recovery Manager Server
I've two vCenters joined to same platform services controller. When I'm logged in using administrator@vsphere.local, there's no issue and I'm able to do everything within Site Recovery Manager.. I've an AD Integrated authentication setup in and my account is a member of Administrators@vsphere.local group. It was a member before installation of SRM as I read in VMware documentations that if it's not a member before, then you need to manually provide permissions.. So It seems my AD domain account has all the rights required but I'm unable to connect to sites when I'm logged in using domain\username.
So now I'm logged in with administrator@vsphere.local account and I can see that all the permissions are fine.
In addition to this, I've restarted SRM and Web Client services on both vCenters.. Any help would be much appreciated..
The weird thing is SRM is not even prompting me for credentials which it should be and I do have Client Integration Plugin installed and working in my browser..

New AppVol Writable native backup feature
Hello:
We recently upgraded to 2.14.2 and as part of that very much looking forward to the native backup capability in the AppVol Manager. We set up a new datastore and here set the days to 1. Our goal would be to have as up to date backups as possible for the user Writables. I have noticed over the past week or so of having the backups enabled, that not all Writables are showing up on the target datastore. According to the release notes the backups only Writable in use since the last backup. In our case even the first backup has not completed for all volumes, and I know many have logged out and logged in since the backups were enabled and I'm still not seeing their Writables appearing on the target datastore. However I am seeing a portion of the Writables showing up so it is working, but not for those that I thought it would be for.
I haven't been able to find much information on how these backups work or should be set up (best practices, etc). Does anybody have more insight to this, or share how you are using it?

Can we schedule for Bulk VM's Hardware version upgrade at particular time ? I know we cn schedule the Hardware compatibility of a VM's but in host there might be multiple VM's running and we cant downtime for all VM's. Is there any option in VUM for scheduling the bulks VM's HW upgrade ? Any help is much appreciated.

UEM in combination with AppVolumes (recommendations)
I keep hearing that the best way to do VDI is to couple UEM and AppVolumes, using AppVolumes for AppStacks and Writeables (UIA Only), and using UEM for the user's profile (folder redirection, windows settings, app settings). Would most of you agree with this recommendation?
We're a small organization (150-200 persistent desktops) and I'm currently running a small pilot group to test these two products (we're going to move away from Citrix/Unidesk). I currently have my pilot group exclusively using Writeable Volumes for a persistent experience and it generally works pretty well, however, I'm told that using UEM for maintaining the persistent experience would be better in the long run, so I've taken the time to setup a UEM environment and test.
Since doing so I've tested the User Environment functionality (folder redirection, shortcuts, drive mappings, etc.) and the Personalization functionality (windows settings, application settings, etc.). All of which seem to work well, but at this point I've only tried using the out-of-the-box configurations for Personalizations. It seems like it could take a lot of time to build your own configs for every application that isn't already listed. It appears that I would have to track down the registry entries of every 3rd party application that we use in order to try and build configuration files for all of them that would capture user edits/changes (seems daunting and maybe impractical for one person).
Given that, I'm considering using UEM for folder redirection (to protect a user's files) in combination with Writeable Volumes (UIA & Profile). That way I can backup and protect the user's files using UEM, maybe use it to deploy printers, shortcuts, etc., but then rely on Writeable Volumes to catch user installed apps and any custom windows and application configuration changes that the user makes.

VCSA upgradation from 6.5u1G to 6.5u2d

Please suggest me on the upgradation path, planning upgrade vCenter (VCSA) from 6.5u1g to 6.5u2d.

Setting the QueueFullThreshold and QueueFullSampleSize via PowerCLI

We have recently moved some of our systems from Esxi .5 to Esxi 6.5 and when running our powershell script to set the appropriate parameters we have come upon an issue where the Storage Core Devise Set command has changed. I can find examples of how to set the QueueFullThreshold and QueueFullSampleSize via Esxcli on each host by using
esxcli storage core device set --device device_name --queue-full-threshold 4 --queue-full-sample-size 32
However I would like to be able to update our PowerCLi script so that it then runs through and updates all the hosts.
Previously the following parameters were needed
{void set(boolean defaultname, string device, boolean force, string name, boolean nopersist, long queuefullsamplesize, long queuefullthreshold, long schednumreqoutstanding, string state)}
Which was carried out using the following $ESXCli.storage.core.device.set($True,$thisLUN.CanonicalName,$False,$null,$False,$QueueFullSample,$QueueFullThreshold,$null,$null)
However I am unsure what is needed for the new parameters.

Remote console on vmware 6.7
hello , we using vmware 6.7 and the remote console keeps freezing after 10seconds and i have to close it down and reopen and it last for another ten seconds . this happens on everyone machine . when i log into the hosts indivudual there is no problem only when going through vcenter . When i use web console via vcenter i get no issue just with the remote console you install anyone had this problem

vCenter 6.7 Upgrade with NSX logical switches
Does anyone have a process documented to manually deploy a vCenter 6.7 and migrate the existing 6.5 vCenter to it?
The upgrade wizard for 6.7 does not allow one to select a network on a DVS that has Non-ephemeral ports. Seems somewhat limited as a static port binding will still allow the VM power up/down with vCenter off....which the wizard does preform.
However, we have a site that heavily uses NSX-V for all virtual machines, including vCenter. NSX-V only supports the static port type when it creates logical switches on the DVS.
So we are kinda stuck. Our NSX setup is pretty complex with all the routing and firewalls we have in place. Creating a standard Virtual switch, moving the old vCenter to it for upgrade, while keeping its IP would be quite tough. The subnet for the vCenter already lives on an NSX logical switch. Moving to a standard vSwitch with a new ip scheme is not possible. To much is pointing to the current vCenter IP.
Seems like there should be a way to deploy the new vCenter, then run the migration scripts between the old and new one. But I couldn't find any docs on it.

VMWare ESXi: install unattended mode remotely.

I want to install vmware esxi on my remote centos 6 server.
I don't have physical access to this server. It contains centos 6 OS. Now I want delete centos 6 OS and install vmware exsi 6.7 on it. Then I can install several centos 7 as virtual machines to vmware esxi.
My question is how can I install vmware esxi to remote computer without physical access? I can connect to this server via ssh.

VCSA Upgrade 6.5 to 6.7 Fails Stage 2 Pre Upgrade Checks
I'm trying to upgrade my VCSA from 6.5 to 6.7 and it fails the Stage 2 Pre Upgrade Checks with a pretty unhelpful:
"Cannot validate target appliance configuration as not enough information from the source appliance can be collected. For more details check out the server logs"
I've attached the upgrade logs, can anyone assist with this? Thanks

VDP losts all VM to save in the job after vMotion
Hi community !
I just face a big issue maybe a known issue, while I was checking my VDP jobs.
Here's my infra: vCenter 6.5U2 + VDP 6.1 + ESXi 6.5U2
- My backup job was made to save 25VMs from a cluster of 5 ESXis.
- The backup job unticked (2 weeks ago...) 20/25VMs it has to save.
- Crossing the email log + events that happened last 2 weeks on ESXi and vCenter; i think the backup job losts what it has to save due to VM vMotion.
By the way, some of the "losts" VM have RDM disk, others have regular disks like vmdk (virtual disk).
Do some of you have already faced to this issue ?

Unable to change the "auto-negotiate" mode to 10000Mb, Full Duplex in vSphere 6.5
Hi Team,
can any one please suggest in changing the nic (vmnic0 / vmnic1) configured speed form auto-negotiate to 10000Mb, Full Duplex mode.
Using HP Blade Gen8, the firmware is up to date in the chassis, and below is the error. Please provide any fix for this. Tried to change from the shell no luck.
"An error occurred during host configuration.
Operation failed, diagnostics report: Unable to complete Sysinfo operation. Please see the VMkernel log file for more details.: Sysinfo error: Not supportedSee VMkernel log for details."

Подскажите пожалуйста, как определить, есть ли у машины linked clones (шарит ли она свои диски с другими машинами) ?
К примеру ситуация:
1. Есть машина Linked Clone
2. От нее в свое время было сделано 5 linked clones
Как узнать, присутствуют ли данные 5 linked clones?

VM migration to vCloud director
Hi Guys,
I have few doubts about VM migration to vcloud director.
Setup:-
I have different customer vCenter servers.
VC1--> 20 VMs
VC2---> 30 VMs
VC3---->40 VMs
Im going to setup a new vCenter server ""VC4""" along with vcloud director this week.After setting up,we need move all the customer VMs to vcloud director(vCD).
How to accomplish this task ?
1) Migrate VMs from vCenter server(VC1,VC2,VC3) to vCenter server(VC4) and import it to VCD(import option is ther in vCD vapps) ? Is this best option or any other direct option is available to vCD directly ?
Please check and suggest.
